Lucy Mae Wilson

Story

Hello again,

Little Lucy is now 16 months and 4 months have passed since her efforts to assist CPEC's fundraising activities commenced.  Lucy, in this week of the marathon festival, wanted to give a BIG THUMBS UP to her 17 team members and all of the friends and family who have generously parted with some of their hard earned money for her and CPEC'S benefit.  Every donation is appreciated!!  Lucy especially wanted to wish all of the members or her team doing events on Sunday the very best of success.

A little has changed since Lucy commenced this fundraising effort. Dad / Justin has reduced the distance of his event by 39.2k thanks to a self inflicted broken collarbone.  He will, however, be pushing Lucy in the 3k walk.  Mum / Kylie, despite having even MORE to do on the home front thanks to Justin,  will still be stepping out in the 10k run and then joining Lucy, Archie, Ollie, Zoe, Justin, family and friends in the 3k walk.

What has not changed in the last 4 months is Lucy's need for therapies, care and support.  We are hoping that through the years to come CPEC's speech pathologists will help her talk and communicate as best as possible.  We are hoping that with the help of the Occupational Therapists and Physio's Lucy will do the best she can in terms of walking, developing her motor skills and giving as good as she gets to her three siblings!

The donations received are crucial in financing the work done by CPEC and as a family we thank everyone who has donated and hope a few more friends might help team Lucy push towards her revised, re revised and updated fundraising target!

So, like the rider at the end of the Insurance add - or now the Red Bull add telling you the wings are not actually real; who would have thought....

    CPEC (Cerebral Palsy Education Centre)

CPEC is a unique and specialised service for children and young people with Cerebral Palsy and similar conditions and their families. We are the only Centre of its type in Australia and we are recognised around the world for our success in working with children with CP.
We provide physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy to children as well as helping them to access essential equipment they need in their daily lives. Every single child who attends CPEC no matter how severe their disability learns to communicate. If you are switched on but can't tell others what you feel or need life can be very frustrating. Learning to communicate is life changing.

It currently costs $34,000 per child per year to receive the much needed “Learning for Life” education programs from CPEC. The Government only funds $7,900 of this so we rely on generous people making donations to help keep us operating.
Our kids are inspiring overcoming obstacles to perform everyday activities, we need your support to help them live as independetly as possible.
